Updated Storm Timeline: What’s Next As System Nears Northeast A powerful cross-country storm now nearing the Northeast will bring scattered thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong gusty winds that could cause power outages. Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Parts Of Maryland, Virginia Some neighborhoods in Maryland and Virginia are subject to a Severe Thunderstorm Watch as intense weather begin making its way through the DMV region. The National Weather Service issued an alert on Sunday afternoon cautioning that from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., there is a chance for inclement weather that could bring heavy rains and whipping wind gusts.
