Samuel Johnson, 36, was arrested late on Thursday afternoon while a deputy familiar with his previous antics caught him while on patrol in the area of Madison Court.
Shortly after 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 17, Deputy X.D. Bates was on proactive control when he spotted a suspicious vehicle sitting outside an area residence that he knew was associated with Johnson, who was wanted in Stafford County for failure to appear, violating a pretrial condition, and at least two known larceny offenses.
When the deputy spotted the brake lights of the vehicle on - signifying that someone was inside - he approached the vehicle to "make a consensual encounter," at which point Johnson got out, and casually acknowledged the deputy by saying "What's going on Bates?"
He got his answer. It ended poorly for him.
Once informed of his fate, Johnson's behavior "quickly changed," a spokesperson from the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said, and he resisted his arrest.
Following a brief struggle, he was placed in handcuffs and found with controlled substances.
Johnson was served on his outstanding warrants and additionally charged with possession of controlled substances and obstruction of justice.
He's being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
