A Montgomery County Transit Services employee is facing multiple charges after allegedly strangling and assaulting a pregnant woman before throwing her to the ground outside a Ride On bus, police said.
Paul Simms, 36, of Laurel, turned himself in on Tuesday, Feb. 4, after police obtained a warrant for his arrest, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.
The violent altercation unfolded the night before, on Monday, Feb. 3, when officers and emergency personnel responded to the 5400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase for a reported assault.

A wanted Virginia man was caught with drugs, ammunition, and a firearm after failing to register as a sex offender, police said.
Stafford resident Tommie Jones Jr., 40, was arrested over the weekend after officers spotted him leaving a business on William Street and recognized him as having an active arrest warrant, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

Howard B. Jenkins, 43, was taken into custody after officers with the Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force stopped his Chevrolet Tahoe on Wednesday, Jan. 29, along Route 3 near Yellow Bottom Road in Culpeper County for failing to display a license plate.
