Spirit Furloughing 1,800 Flight Attendants Amid Second Bankruptcy: Report Spirit Airlines will furlough roughly a third of its cabin crew as the budget carrier slashes costs during its second bankruptcy in less than a year, according to reports. The airline said that about 1,800 flight attendants will be furloughed, CNBC reported on Monday, Sept. 22. The cuts will begin with voluntary furloughs.
