The fatal crash was reported on Saturday, Nov. 16, at approximately 3:48 p.m. in the 14500 block of Trans World Avenue.

Detectives from FCPD's Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that the child was riding a tricycle on a private driveway before crossing onto the roadway, where a 2012 Ford F-450 struck the child at a low rate of speed, police say.

Despite immediate response efforts, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said. Preliminary findings indicate that alcohol and excessive speed were not factors in the crash.

FCPD’s Chaplain Unit and additional officers have been deployed to the area to provide support to the grieving community.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing, authorities said.
