The first call came in around 7:46 p.m. on Nov. 18 from the 15500 block of Farm Creek Drive, where a verbal altercation between a 20-year-old woman and her acquaintance, later identified as John Jeremiah Bailey, 22, took a violent turn.
According to police, Bailey allegedly assaulted the woman before leading her to a nearby apartment complex, where the situation escalated further.
The woman tried to leave, but Bailey prevented her from doing so, trapping her until a Good Samaritan stepped in.
The intervention allowed the victim to separate from Bailey, who fled the scene but was later found by officers in the area.
Police say Bailey attempted to mislead them by providing false identification but was eventually taken into custody.
The victim suffered minor injuries, police said.
Bailey, of Dumfries, now faces charges of abduction, assault and battery, and providing a false identity to law enforcement.
His court date is pending, and bond information was not immediately available.
