A Maryland high school was placed on hold after police responded to reports of a student with a firearm on campus. Officers were called at 11:29 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, to Blake High School in Montgomery County, where the situation unfolded, according to Montgomery County Police. The firearm was quickly located, and a 19-year-old student was detained. No injuries were reported. A student was detained and a handgun recovered from a Maryland high school on Friday morning, police say. Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police were called to Watkins Mill High School around 11:40 a.m. on April 24 to investigate a report of a student in possession of a firearm. In response, the school was placed in a 20-minute hold and was back to normal operations shortly after noon on Friday. A former Connecticut high school teacher has been accused of sexually assaulting a former student, authorities said. Ciara Picard, 39, was arrested and charged with five counts of sexual assault involving a former student of Maloney High School in Meriden, police announced on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
