The wreck happened around 6:35 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the intersection of Staffordboro Boulevard and Stafford Market Place, authorities said.

Deputies say 56-year-old Tommy Anderson Jr. was behind the wheel of a BMW when he pulled out of a commuter lot and struck a Chevy that was heading north on Staffordboro.

Responding to the scene, deputies said Anderson showed “extremely noticeable signs of intoxication,” including slurred speech and glassy, bloodshot eyes.

Despite barely being able to talk coherently, Anderson allegedly admitted, “It’s my fault,” multiple times and told deputies he had “something to drink three minutes ago.”

A records check revealed a prior DUI conviction in 2020, making this his second offense in five years.

Anderson was charged with:

  • DUI second offense with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2;
  • Reckless driving;
  • Failure to obey a traffic light.

He was booked at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond.
