Michael Lee Gorham, 57, was indicted on Monday, July 17, with manslaughter in the July 7, 2022 death of 28-year-old Brandon Nutter, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Brandon Nutter, of Mineral, was just weeks into the job as a heavy equipment mechanic for the Solid Waste Collections Division on July 7, 2022, when the incident occurred at the Chancellor Convenience Center, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

Gorham was arrested on Tuesday, July 18, and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. No further details were released, and Gorham's role in the tragedy wasn't immediately clear.

Colonial Heights Commonwealth's Attorney Gray Collins, a special prosecutor, has been assigned to the case. A spokesperson for Collins' office did not immediately respond to Daily Voice's request for comment.
