DWI Driver In Fatal Crash Slapped With Additional Charges: Fairfax PD
A driver charged in a fatal crash in July is facing additional charges, Fairfax County police said. Benjamin Lopez Encinas, 33, of Woodbridge, was initially charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, but as of Monday, Aug. 14, faces aggravated DWI manslaughter and felony hit and run. Detectives served Encinas warrants on Sunday, Aug. 13. He's being held without bond. Police have released the identities of both the 33-year-old suspect and 26-year-old pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash overnight in Fairfax County. One Injured During Undercover Officer-Involved Shooting During Attempted Arrest In Virginia
One suspect was hospitalized by an undercover detective in Maryland who was involved in an officer-involved shooting during a drug investigation in Fairfax County, officials said. Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said that undercover officers on patrol in the area of Arlington Boulevard and Patrick Henry Drive in the Mason Police District were conducting a drug investigation when they identified some suspects implicated in the case.
