With temperatures approaching and topping 100 degrees in some parts of the DMV, forecasters are cautioning that excessive heat could be making way for severe storms. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service as storms bringing possible hail and 70 mph wind gusts could make their way through the region on Tuesday night. Tennessee DUI Driver Caused Deadly Crash On I-81: Virginia State Police
A Tennessee man has been charged with DUI in a deadly crash on I-81 in Virginia, police said. Kenneth J. Bireta, 54, of Knoxville, TN, was heading north on the highway when he ran off the left side of the roadway into the median, overturned several times, and entered the southbound lanes just before 11 p.m. Monday, April 1, Virginia State Police said. Bireta's Toyota Highlander then collided with a 2019 Nissan Rogue heading south. Sex Trafficker Held Woman Trying To Escape By Her Hair In VA: Police
A 39-year-old man was charged with sex trafficking after he held a woman apparently trying to escape by her hair, then was seen pushing a woman out of his moving car in Loudoun County, authorities said. Andrew Hill, of Martinsburg, WV, was arrested after both incidents in Leesburg on Wednesday, Sept. 14, Leesburg Officer Michael Drogan said. The ongoing labor dispute between CSX Transportation and its labor unions could have a major impact on riders in Maryland and Virginia.
