Classes Resume After Virginia HS Evacuated For Possible Gas Leak
Students and staff at a Virginia high school were temporarily out in the cold on Tuesday morning after a precautionary evacuation. Loudoun County High School was evacuated shortly after 9 a.m. on Jan. 30 due to the reported presence of the odor of gas throughout parts of the building, according to police. A School Resource Officer assigned to the building from the Leesburg Police Department coordinated with school staff to safely get everyone out while Loudoun County Fire and Rescue crews investigated and gave the all-clear before noon on Tuesday. Racist, Anti-Semitic Writing Reported At Two Different VA High Schools In Two Days
For the second time in two days, members of the Leesburg Police Department were called in to investigate reports of racist and anti-Semitic writing that were found in bathrooms at area high schools. The Leesburg Police Department was investigating an incident of unlawful filming in a local school bathroom, officials said. On Oct. 4, a teenaged student filmed another student, without their permission, over the divider of a Loudoun County High School bathroom, according to the Leesburg Police Department. Loudoun County police dealt with a handful of fake, but serious reports of crime on Monday, Sept. 19, officials reported.During the school day, an individual allegedly called 911 to report an active shooter incident at Loudoun Valley and Loudoun County high schools, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. An 18-year-old star basketball player who recently graduated from Loudoun County High School died overnight in a car crash involving a tractor-trailer, authorities said. George Mwesigwa was rushed to the hospital after a 3 a.m. crash on Leesburg bypass near Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg, where he later died of his wounds, Leesburg police said.
