16 Indicted In Crime Ring Targeting Asian-American Jewelers Across Mid-Atlantic: Feds An indictment of 16 members of a violent mid-Atlantic crime ring has been unsealed and the federal agencies are naming names.  Of the 16, eight of the alleged crime ring members were arrested in the morning on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, police in Fairfax County, Virginia announced later that day.  They were all arrested in connection to a violent crime spree that took place between Jan. 7, 2022, through Jan. 27, 2023.  The crime ring members were all from Maryland and the District of Columbia. Fatal Trailer Crash Closes Portion Of I-495 A deadly tractor-trailer crash closed Interstate 495 in Virginia early Sunday, Sept. 11. The truck was heading north when it ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and then a pole near Exit 44/Georgetown Pike just after 6 a.m. in Fairfax County, Virginia State Police said. The driver of the tractor-trailer died at the scene. State police was working to confirm the driver's identity and notify the next of kin. The crash remains under investigation.

Virginia Man In Critical Condition After Bicyclist, SUV Crash In Fairfax County: Police A Virginia man is in critical condition following a crash involving two bicyclists and an SUV in Fairfax County, authorities said.  Police responded to the crash at Belle Haven Road & Fort Hunt Road in Belle Haven around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9, Fairfax County Police said on Twitter.  Upon arrival, one bicyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene, police said.  The accident closed Belle Haven Road as a result. The crash remains under investigation.
