A strong contingent of athletes and para athletes from Maryland and Virginia are headed to the Paris Olympics.
A total of 24 athletes from Maryland and 15 from Virginia have all qualified for the Olympics and are ready to make their run at the gold when events kick off Friday, July 26.

Cyclists Ride For Popular LGBTQ+ Advocate Killed In Maryland Bicycle Crash
If it weren't for Scott Binde, the Resplendent Rappahannock Ride, Bike Berryville, and Prince William County Ride may not have happened.
Now, those who knew and loved him are organizing two special rides just for him.
Binde, 63, of Alexandria, VA, was struck by a Toyota 4Runner while trying to cross US Route 15 and Catoctin Furnace Road in Frederick, MD on Saturday, June 1, officials said. He was pronounced dead by first responders.

'Local Bike Legend' Dzhoy Zuckerman, 27, Killed In DC
Washington DC's bicycling community was mourning the loss of 27-year-old Dzhoy Zuckerman, who was killed over the weekend.
Dzhoy Zuckerman, 27, was gunned down on the 6100 block of 3rd Street, Northwest, just after midnight on Saturday, July 15, DC Metro police said. His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Zuckerman was being mourned as a local legend on a GoFundMe campaign that had raised more than $7,400 as of Monday, July 17.
