Woodbridge resident William Currie Dewalt was arrested by members of the Prince William County Police Department late on Monday, Dec. 12 following an investigation into a reported incident in the Dale Forest Apartment complex in the 4300 block of Welsh Lane in his hometown.
Police say that shortly before 5:45 p.m. on Monday afternoon, members of the department were called to the Woodbridge apartment complex, where there was a reported domestic incident involving weapons.
The initial investigation determined that an adult resident of the home, later identified as Dewalt, and a 15-year-old minor were involved in a verbal altercation that rapidly escalated, which concluded with him pushing the teen away to go grab a machete, according to police.
At one point, investigators said that a 34-year-old female family member of the teen attempted to intervene, at which point Dewalt allegedly pushed her, threatening to kill both of his victims, and held the life to the teen’s head, leaving a small laceration.
According to detectives, the three were eventually separated and the police were contacted, leading to Dewalt's apprehension.
Dewalt was identified as the suspect involved in the incident - which left the teen with minor injuries. He was arrested without incident and charged with:
- Malicious wounding;
- Two counts of brandishing a machete;
- Two counts of domestic assault and battery.
His bond information was unavailable on Tuesday, Dec. 13 as he awaits his initial court appearance.
