A fun day in the snow turned into tragedy for a young Virginia family when a 26-year-old mother was killed in a freak sledding accident, leaving behind her husband and infant daughter, just as they were set to begin a new life, loved ones said.
Madelyn Nancy Lowe-Perdue, 26, of Chesapeake, suffered severe injuries in the accident on Thursday, Feb. 20, and was rushed to the hospital, where she later died, according to a GoFundMe campaign organized to support her family.

Jocelynn Rojo Carranza of Gainesville, TX, died on Saturday, Feb. 8, five days after she was rushed to a hospital, Univision 23 reported. She was a student at Gainesville Intermediate School, about an hour north of Dallas.

A Fredericksburg boy died weeks before his 9th birthday due to complications of a tonsillectomy, his family said on social media.
The boy's dad, Rich Shircliff, on Facebook, said that he had a tonsillectomy on Monday, Jan. 13, "and while everything initially seemed fine, he began experiencing complications on Wednesday morning."

The search for a missing man in Fairfax County has ended in tragedy, authorities announced.
Tamrat Gebremichel was reported missing after having last been seen on Jan. 5 in Springfield, Fairfax County police said. On Jan. 14, police announced that 39-year-old Gebremichel was found dead.
