The Stafford County Sheriff's Office reported the closure near Lichfield Boulevard on Thursday, March 6, urging drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Fredericksburg confirmed the extended closure, stating that their crews are on the scene setting up detours while Dominion Energy works to address the downed power lines.

In photos released by VDOT, crews can be seen working on the pole, which was cracked in half, leaving wires strewn across the roadway.

Drivers heading northbound are being rerouted via South Gateway Drive to Plantation Drive to Lichfield Boulevard, while southbound traffic is being directed to Poplar Road to Truslow Road to Plantation Drive, officials said.

Authorities have not provided an estimated time for reopening.

Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays in the area.
