Tractor-Trailer Driver Wanted For Fatal Hit-Run Crash In Leesburg: Police

A 93-year-old passenger died at the hospital days after being involved in a now-fatal hit-and-run crash with a tractor-trailer in Loudoun County.

Lovettsville resident Monica Lee has been identified as the passenger in a Chrysler who suffered critical injuries following a crash last week.

According to a spokesperson from the Leesburg Police Department, at around 1:45 in the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 23, a tractor-trailer was heading north on the Route 15 bypass when it struck a Chrysler 300 and fled the area.

During the investigation, officers were able to locate the truck abandoned in the 1000 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE, but the driver has remained elusive.

"Investigators have spoken with several persons of interest associated with the truck and are working diligently to uncover any leads that may assist in positively identifying the individual responsible," police said.

All three occupants of the Chrysler were taken to the hospital for treatment and evaluation, where Lee succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, Oct. 26 and died.

The other two have since ben released, and the search for the tractor-trailer driver is ongoing.
