Speed is believed to have been a factor in an afternoon crash that left a driver in Fairfax County with critical injuries, police say. Officers were called around 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, to investigate a single vehicle crash in the area of Route 1 and Janna Lee Avenue in Mount Vernon, which left one person with serious injuries. An 80-year-old woman has died after suffering what were initially believed to be non-life-threatening injuries in a Fairfax County crash earlier this month, police say. On Wednesday, July 3, Mount Vernon resident Donna Gulino was involved in a two-vehicle crash in the 8600 block of Richmond Highway in Woodlawn, sending both drivers to the hospital. A carjacker who ran roughshod in Fairfax County during a 90-minute crime spree over the weekend was quickly apprehended by police, officials say. Ranzo Johnson, 38, terrorized some of his neighbors in Annandale on Saturday after first stealing a Lexus and then attempting several other carjackings in the area.
