Here's How Much Snow Fell In These DMV Communities During Storm (Updated) With the DMV beginning to dig out after being battered by snow during the first major winter storm of 2025, the National Weather Service is providing final snowfall totals throughout the region. More than a foot fell in some remote parts of Maryland, while nearly every municipality in Virginia reported at least five inches of fresh powder that fell during the two-day storm. Things are expected to remain dry on Saturday, with a Winter Storm put in place beginning on Sunday,  Jan. 5 that will be in place for several days. This year's title speaks for itself: "The 2025 Old Farmer’s Almanac Forecasts a 'Calmer, Gentler' Winter." The Old Farmer's Almanac touts 80 percent accuracy in its forecasts dating back to 1792.
