A woman suffered critical injuries after a single-vehicle crash in Fairfax County that shut down a busy road in Fairfax County, police said. The crash was reported around noon Tuesday, Dec. 24 on Pohick Road near Havenbrook Way in Newington, according to Fairfax County Police, and the driver, only described as a woman, was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives were called to the scene to investigate, officials said. Police have not yet released details about what caused the crash or the driver’s identity. A stretch of I-66 was temporarily shut down on Friday morning in Fairfax County following a crash involving multiple vehicles that left at least one person with injuries, state police confirmed. The westbound express lanes on the interstate were closed as of 11 a.m. on Aug. 23 as crews cleared the area following a reported crash and vehicle fire, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
