The victim, identified as Joe Anthony Palacios, who had no permanent address, was critically injured in the crash and later pronounced dead at a local hospital, the Fredericksburg Police Department said.
Officers were called at approximately 6:20 a.m. to the eastbound lanes of Plank Road in the 2800 block, where they found Palacios severely injured after being hit by a truck while walking in the roadway.
Emergency responders rushed Palacios to an area hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly before 10:45 a.m.
Police say the driver, who was not injured, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. No charges have been filed as of now.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available, police said.
