According to officials, an environmental assessment was completed over the weekend in advance of the removal of the monument, and now they are ready to move ahead as the country continues to remove Confederate symbolism from military facilities. Expectant Father, Navy Sailor From Virginia Tanner Huffman Dies Suddenly, 22 Tanner Huffman, a former baseball player from northern Virginia turned Navy sailor, died on Saturday, Aug. 26. Tanner Huffman, 22, played baseball for Massapnoax High School before serving the U.S. as a member of the Navy — following in his father's footsteps, according to his obituary.
