Victim Shot By Man He Met In Rideshare In Fairfax County: Police
A 32-year-old man has been arrested for shooting a person he'd met in a rideshare vehicle in Fairfax County, police said. Yusef Roy, of Lorton, and the passenger were picked up at difference places but were dropped off at the same final destination near the 9200 block of Ashland Woods on March 1, Fairfax County police said. Police were called to Ashland Woods after Roy fired at the victim multiple times but missed, they said. A pair of crashes caused miles of backups along I-66 Wednesday, May 1. The VDOT site shows one multi-vehicle crash happened near milepost 60.6 near the Mosby Woods section of Fairfax County. Utility Issues Shut Leesburg Pike
Utility issues closed all westbound lanes of Leesburg Pike Wednesday morning, May 1. According to the VDOT site, traffic was being diverted to Patrick Henry Drive as of 9:30 a.m. The roadway was closed at Castle and Thorne roads in Seven Corners. UPDATE: Utility Problem. Armed Burglar Caught Fleeing Across Golf Course In Fairfax County
A man who broke into a home and robbed a woman at gunpoint was arrested after attempting to flee across a Fairfax County golf course, police said. The man broke into a home on the 2200 block of Stone Wheel Drive in Reston and robbed the woman at gunpoint. Police said only that he then tried to flee across a nearby golf course. While police did not say which golf course he fled through, the closest is Reston National Golf Course is located approximately one mile away. He was quickly apprehended, police said.

Arlington Schools Employee Showed Porn To Three Children: Police
An Arlington Public Schools Extended Day employee is facing charges for showing pornography to three juveniles, police said. Matthew Pineda, 18, of Fairfax County, is charged with possession of child pornography and assault and battery. Police said he became the center of an investigation on April 19 and was being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Center. Monna Islam was feeling lucky. That’s the reason the Falls Church resident bought a 20X the Money ticket from the Virginia Lottery, according to a release on the VA Lottery website. Police ID Motorcyclist, 50, Killed In Burke Crash
Police have identified the motorcyclist killed Wednesday night, April 24 in Fairfax County. Mohab Helmy, 50, of Burke, was heading west on Old Keene Mill Road in Burke on a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle when he struck a 2005 Toyota sedan making a left turn onto Old Keene Mill Road from a shopping center just after 10 p.m., county police said. More than $300,000 in damages to a Fairfax County home could've been avoided, had the smoker in the house properly discarded materials, officials said. West Potomac High School in Belle Haven was evacuated Wednesday morning, April 24 for a threat called in over the phone, police said. Out of an abundance of caution, the students were moved from the school to an alternate location as our EOD conducts a search. The search yielded negative results, police said. A Fairfax County woman won a $1 million Powerball ticket, thanks to her son. Maria Roldan’s son had a Powerball ticket, but he was about to go on vacation and would miss the drawing. So he gave his Vienna mother the ticket. That turned out to be a $1 million gift. The ticket matched the first five winning numbers in the March 11 drawing.
