The Confederacy Falls Again: Fairfax County Moving Forward With Highway Name Changes The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted to change two highway names that are tied to the confederacy. After a nine to one vote, Lee highway and Lee-Jackson highway will now be called Route 29 and Route 50, respectively. This vote came after a year's worth of work from the Confederate Names Task Force of Fairfax County. The only person who voted against the plans to rename the highways was the board's sole Republican supervisor, Pat Herrity. 14 Fairfax Streets With Confederacy-Related Names Will Soon Be Changed The Fairfax City Council voted to rename 14 local street names that have ties to Confederacy, officials said. The Council voted on these street names after a heated debate last month, WTOP reported.  The City Council has not yet released the new names of the 14 streets.  The street names to be renamed include: Confederate Lane  Lee Highway Lee Street Mosby Road Mosby Woods Drive Old Lee Highway Raider Road Ranger Road Reb Street Scarlet Circle Singleton Circle Traveler Street Stonewall Avenue Click here for more from WTOP.
