Officials at the Stafford County Animal Shelter put out a final plea to the community on Facebook after their long-term resident Sky went months without any inquiries for adoption.

"Sky hasn’t received ONE inquiry since arriving to us November last year," the shelter commented. "No one has sent an email. No one has called about her. No one asks to visit with her. We have posted her multiple times … Still nothing".

The viral post tugged on the communities heartstrings, quickly being shared over 67,000 times in less than 24 hours.

The pretty pup had struggled to find a home due to needing to be the only dog in a household, sitting in the lonely shelter for months as the dogs surrounding her came and went with new owners.

"She is a wonderful companion", the shelter continued. "She does great with all people and loves going for walks with our volunteers. We are confident she will make someone very happy, she just needs a chance!"

That chance came in a matter of hours, with Sky receiving thousands of requests to adopt her. An adopter was chosen for Sky before the end of the day, allowing her to go home with her perfect family before sundown.

Sky will now enjoy her days as a wonderful companion with a brand-new fenced-in backyard for her to frolic in.

The Stafford County Animal Shelter still has plenty of other dogs who have been waiting far too long for their second chance, inviting all interested adopters to come in for a meet and greet during business hours.
