The Stafford County Sheriff's Special Problems Unit saw 41-year-old Earnest Scruggs, and 35-year-old Justin House, in a home with Jeffery Roles, 32, all of Stafford, on the 900 block of Truslow Road around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, March 15, the sheriff's office said.
Scruggs was wanted out of Fredericksburg while House was wanted out of Powhatan and Spotsylvania County.
As deputies knocked on the door, they saw House retreat deeper into the home. When Scruggs answered the door, he was greeted with handcuffs. Roles also detained.
"Scruggs claimed House was not there despite deputies observing him with their own eyes," the sheriff said.
The homeowner arrived on scene moments later and consented to a search. House was found within the house pretending to be asleep, police said.
His fake nap was paused when he too was detained, authorities said. Deputies also saw drugs in plain view where they had seen the men sitting earlier.
All three men were charged with possession of controlled substances. Scruggs and House were both served on their outstanding warrants.
Due to his lack of cooperation during the investigation, Scruggs was also charged with obstruction of justice. All three were held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
