While out with friends in Temple Hills earlier this year, a Springfield woman picked up a "Powerball" ticket in July when the jackpot topped $1 billion, something that is out of her wheel house, she says.
The 75-year-old woman can't clearly remember the details surrounding the purchase of the $3 ticket, which is out of her routine, though she's feeling pretty lucky after she realized she had won a six-figure Lottery prize.
According to the retiree, she was out with friends at Marlow Winghouse and Sports Grill in Temple Hills on Wednesday, July 19 when she bought her golden ticket.
Only she didn't know that she was holding on to a scrap of paper worth $100,000.
The happy discovery only happened when the woman was perusing some papers and came upon the ticket, to which she simply said, "This is wonderful. I am just blessed."
Following the big win, she plans on simply banking the cash and discussing with her family the best way to enjoy their unexpected windfall.
