An eagle-eyed paramedic was able to alert fire crews to an overnight blaze in Stafford County that damaged several structures. Shortly before midnight on Saturday, Oct. 26, Stafford County Fire and Rescue units were alerted to a fire in the 500 block of Wyne Drive, near Warrenton Road in Falmouth, by an ambulance that was returning from the hospital and spotted it. Responders were working to clear the scene of a train derailment in Fredericksburg Sunday, July 21. Fredericksburg Fire Chief Michael Jones said that the derailment involving five train cars near 420 Cobblestone Drive and collided with the garage buildings on the property, on Saturday, July 20 around 8:50 p.m. The trains took down a concrete sound wall, which damaged four garages — one being completely flattened, responders said. Rising waters during this week's storm nearly trapped a homeless woman under the Falmouth Bridge, until firefighters came to her aid, officials tell Daily Voice. The individual called 911 at the height of the storm, around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, saying the waters were rising and they had nowhere to go, according to Brian J. A mulch pile fire continues to rage hours after being ignited in Stafford County. The fire was reported Thursday, Aug. 10 near the intersection of Courthouse Road and Austin Ridge Road, sending smoke over I-95, officials said.
