An investigation has been launched as officers attempt to track down a wanted shooter who fled the area after targeting his victim, police say. Peter McCandless Was Killed Crossing A Reston Intersection An 87-year-old Reston man well known to the community has died from his injuries after being struck by a Mercedes while walking near a busy Fairfax County intersection, police say. Peter McCandless has been identified by investigators as the man struck attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Reston Parkway near Market Street earlier this week. Police say that McCandless was walking in a crosswalk, but against the signal when he was struck by a 2017 Mercedes ML350 traveling through the area.
