Knife-Wielding Homeless Thief Arrested In Arlington, Police Say
A 44-year-old homeless man was arrested for robbing a store with a knife in Arlington, police said. Derrick Taylor went into a store on the 1200 block of S. Hayes Street just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 26 and collected merchandise, during which he was confronted by two employees, Arlington police said. That's when Taylor pulled out a knife and threatened workers, before leaving the store without paying, police said. Trespassing Shoplifter Fled Down Railroad Tracks To Avoid Arrest In Virginia, Police Say
A District man went through all the stops and put police in Arlington through their paces after attempting to flee from a larceny by running down train tracks to a Metro station. Alvern Harris, 37, didn't make it far as he sought to avoid a shoplifting arrest on Monday morning, but wound up running into the waiting arms of arresting officers, according to authorities.
