Fire Sprinklers Save Dog From Fairfax Blaze
Two sprinkler heads extinguished an apartment fire in Fairfax and spared a dog’s life on Wednesday, July 13. Fire officials responded to a report of an apartment fire in the 2300 block of Rolling Fork Circle and saw smoke coming from one of the units, the Fairfax County Fire Department said. The dog was the only occupant of the unit at the time of the fire, but was unharmed due to the fire sprinklers going off just in time, authorities said. 14 Fairfax Streets With Confederacy-Related Names Will Soon Be Changed
The Fairfax City Council voted to rename 14 local street names that have ties to Confederacy, officials said. The Council voted on these street names after a heated debate last month, WTOP reported. The City Council has not yet released the new names of the 14 streets. Fairfax Man Sentenced For Selling Meth On Darkweb: DOJ
A Virginia man was sentenced to 52 months in prison for his schemes to sell meth on the Darknet, officials reported. Tyler Pham, 39, of Fairfax, was charged after distributing between 15 and 45 kilograms of meth pills from May 2019 through December 2019, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Pham, who was turned over to the US by Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, advertised the pills as peach-flavored Adderall under the online alias, “addy4cheap”, authorities said. Fairfax House Fire Will Cost Family More Than Half A Million Dollars: Fire Officials
A house fire that broke out in Fairfax over the weekend will cost the victims more than $594,000 in repairs, officials said.The blaze at the 8500 block of Grigsby Drive in West Springfield was reported around 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 10. Flames were showing on the first floor and roof, with no occupants inside Fairfax County Fire and Rescue reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no injuries were reported, authorities said.

A body was found near the vehicle of a missing Fairfax dad Wednesday, July 6 — and his family says it's his. Detectives found 53-year-old Juan Ward’s car in the 8500 block of Alban Road in Newington. Soon after, a body was found. Nighthawk Investigate Services says his car was moved to that location sometime between June 27 and 29. It was not clear where it had previously been parked. Frederick Njihia fired a gun multiple times at a Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission worker and a man standing next to his truck around 9:50 a.m., bringing police to the 11300 block of Hawks Ridge Terrace in Germantown, Montgomery County police said.
