As if rush hour on the Capital Beltway wasn't bad enough, a tractor trailer crash jammed up the highway even more on Thursday, May 16. As of press time, delays were being reported due to the southbound crash in Fairfax County. It happened at mile marker 48.8. The south right shoulder was closed as of press time.

Gregory B. Bruington, Jr., of Newport News, was in the shoulder of the westbound lanes at mile marker 175 in Fairfax, when he was struck by Carlos L. Double Tractor Trailer Crash Jams Capital Beltway In Fairfax County
A crash involving two tractor trailers on the Capital Beltway Wednesday, March 13 had traffic tied up during morning rush hour. It happened at 7 a.m. in the southbound lanes when a passenger vehicle and two tractor-trailers collided near Exit 45, State Police said. The impact of the crash caused one of the tractor-trailers to jackknife. There are no reported injuries. The 28-year-old male driver at fault was charged with following too closely.

Person Changing Tire Struck, Killed By Truck On Beltway: State Police
A person changing a tire on their car was struck and killed by a truck on the Capital Beltway early Sunday, March 10 in Fairfax County, police said. The unidentified person was in the shoulder of the westbound lanes near Exit 176 when they were struck just before 3:40 a.m., Virginia State Police said. The pedestrian died at the scene. The driver of the truck was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Virginia State Police Fairfax Division Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the ongoing crash investigation. Charges are pending.

Ozaltin, of McLean, was in a Toyota Prius heading south in the northbound lanes when her vehicle struck a northbound 2018 Chevrolet Cruze, just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, Virginia State Police said. Police closed a portion of the Capital Beltway Tuesday night, May 17, to investigate a serious crash that left one person dead and another seriously injured.
