Young Black Bear Roams Arlington
Arlington residents have been reporting multiple sightings of a young black bear roaming neighborhoods Monday morning, May 13. The Animal Welfare League of Arlington said it was made aware of "several" reported sightings of the juvenile black bear. ARLNow reports multiple sightings from users of the Nextdoor app, including a spotting on the 2500 block of North Florida Street, and another Monday morning on North Harrison and 26th Street. Over 'Misleading' Deer Management Letter

Arlington officials are denouncing what they're calling a misleading letter issued by the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, urging residents to speak out against deer culling. During the month of April, nine dogs suspected of abuse and neglect were rescued by the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. The first to come to the shelter were Shih Tsu's Taavi and Trella, who "had been kept in terrible conditions, cramped in filthy cat crates in their owner’s bathroom," AWLA said. The owner surrendered them and they both went on to find loving homes. The search is on for the psychos who have been targeting rabbits with blow darts and projectiles in Arlington. The Animal Welfare League of Arlington issued an alert on Monday, April 10 advising that at least two bunnies were found in the 700 and 800 blocks of North Barton Street earlier this month with what appears to be blow darts stuck to their body. Alert Issued For Rabid Fox In Arlington Neighborhood
A potentially rabid fox was spotted in an Arlington neighborhood, officials said. Arlington County Animal Control responded to calls of a disoriented fox near the 4100 blocks of 41 St and Randolph Street N, south-east of Chain Bridge Rd and George Washington Pkwy around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington reports.
