The Hugo family's beloved home went up in flames, ruining many rooms and almost killing their two dogs, according to Miranda Hugo, whose parents live in the house. Injured Blue Heron Stuck In Waterway Saved By DC Officials
D.C. Fire and EMS sent a fireboat crew to rescue a blue heron in need, officials said. Multiple animal control officers got into the water near Chain Bridge on August 4, in order to put the heron in a net and bring the bird to safety, according to D.C. Fire and EMS. Here's How To Adopt One Of The 4,000 Envigo Beagles
The Department of Justice recently approved the transfer and adoption of 4,000 beagles from the cruel and inhuman conditions of the Envigo breeding facility in Cumberland. The beagles will be sent to the local Humane Society, where they will receive care and a healthy environment until they are settled in adequate shelters, according to the Virginia Coalition for Beagle Protection. Once they are in those various state shelters, they will be available for adoption into loving, safe forever homes. Stafford Deputy Nurses Sick 3-Week-Old Kitten Back To Health
A Stafford County Sheriff's deputy saved the life of a 3-week-old kitten she found near-death on a sidewalk last week. Deputy K.L. Busch spotted the fuzzy feline as it struggled to walk across the scorching-hot concrete on a 95-degree day, Stafford County Sheriff's Office said. The kitten was dehydrated, underweight, and lethargic. The cat's mother was nowhere in sight, so Busch scooped her up and took it to get help. This Little Piggy Went All The Way To Jail In Stafford
A sheriff's deputy had a run-in with a road hog over the weekend during a traffic stop in Stafford County. In a pun-filled hammy press release, The Stafford County Sheriff's Office detailed how a deputy rescued a pig on the Fourth of July. Deputy Connelly was in the middle of a traffic stop when the swine sallied up to him on U.S. 1 just after 6:30 a.m. The deputy teamed up with some people in the area to capture the pig using dog food as bait.
