Authorities say that a Maryland man and a family member have been arrested and charged in connection to the death of a 29-year-old teacher in Virginia.
Leonardtown resident Demitri Raymond Gardiner, 28, and Michael John Gardiner, 35, of Montross, Virginia, are both facing a host of charges in Westmoreland County for their alleged roles in the brutal murder of Taylor Wood, 29, also of Montrose, and several of her pets, the sheriff’s office announced.

A 24-year-old Virginia man is in custody after authorities say he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, another man, and a dog inside a Dumfries home on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Desmond Malcolm Daniel led authorities to Dulles International Airport, where he was arrested around 2 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 in connection with the shooting deaths of Alyssa Trynese Gainey, 22, of Woodbridge, and Javon Alberto Williams, 24, of Dumfries, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

One beagle that was saved from Envigo, a former, unethical breeding facility in Virgina, was recently adopted by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to WUSA9.
Their new pup, Mia, is just one of the 4,000 beagles that were freed from Envigo and taken across the country to adoption shelters.
Envigo was shut down in July, after officials discovered their cruel euthanasia practices and found the facility in inhumane conditions.

Animal Cruelty: Man Left Dog On Boat In 100-Degree Weather, Stafford Sheriff Says
A man and his sister were arrested at a Stafford marina after they trespassed onto a boat and neglected their dog in 100-degree heat, officials said.
On July 23 at around 4:15 p.m., John Allen, 28, was found sleeping aboard a boat at Hope Springs Marina, while his dog was stuck outside in blazing heat with no food or water, according to Stafford County Police.
When officers woke Allen, he was clearly intoxicated as he explained that he and his sister, 22-year-old Megan Allen, were aboard overnight to fix damages on the boat.
