Driver Sought After Fatal Hit-Run Crash In Virginia: Police

A Good Samaritan tried to save a 51-year-old man struck by a hit-and-run driver, but the efforts failed and the man later died at an area hospital, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Officers were called shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 to the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Lynn Street in Woodbridge when a driver found a 51-year-old man unconscious in the roadway.

Police say that a passing motorist spotted Woodbridge resident Salvador Ernesto Torres in the road and contacted emergency services while rendering aid.

Torres was rushed to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries, the department announced on Friday, Nov. 8. An autopsy confirmed that he had been struck by a vehicle.

It is believed that Torres was walking in the roadway of Prince William Parkway when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that continued on.

No details about the driver or vehicle has been released.

The fatal hit-and-run remains under investigation.
