Brian Alexander Snyder, 27, was sentenced to 14 years in prison with no time suspended - above the recommended sentence - after arranging deals with an undercover officer.
In March 2024, members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office arranged a "controlled buy" of fentanyl and cocaine, prosecutors said, arranging to meet with him at a set location to pick up the product.
Investigators say that Snyder arrived at the meet with 32 grams of cocaine and 134 pills containing fentanyl. When he was arrested, deputies also recovered a handgun in the driver's side door of his vehicle.
Snyder was convicted of two counts of possession with the intent to distribute Schedule I / II Substance, and simultaneous possession of a firearm and Schedule I or II Substance.
At sentencing, prosecutors argued that Snyder was the "door dash of misery and suffering ... this is someone preying on addicted individuals in this community for profit ... "If you sell drugs you are going to prison ... the cost of selling fentanyl in Loudoun is huge."
Officials noted that the 14 year sentence exceeded the punishing range recommended by Virginia Sentencing Guidelines, which was between three to 10 years.
"Thanks to the successful operation conducted by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, these deadly drugs were removed from the community before they could kill anyone," Commonwealth's Attorney Bob Anderson stated. "There will be significant penalties for anyone who deals drugs in Loudoun."
