A smiling suspect is behind bars in Maryland after police say he carried out a violent rape at an area gas station and an armed bank robbery the very next morning.
Montgomery County Police said Carlos St. James Hover, 34, of Washington, DC, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 15, after walking into a Capital One Bank on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring and committing an armed robbery.

A man being evaluated at a Virginia hospital allegedly broke free from his restraints and tried to take an officer’s gun, police said.
Anthony Jermaine Bowles, 33, of Woodbridge, was in custody for an evaluation at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center on Opitz Boulevard in Woodbridge around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, when he became combative and removed his restraints, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

A woman from DC who attacked ICE and FBI agents in an effort to block the transfer of a suspected 18th Street gang member is facing charges of her own, authorities announced.
Sydney Lori Reid, 44, was charged in US District Court on Tuesday, July 23, with assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the US Attorney’s Office on Tuesday.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22 outside the DC Central Detention Facility, federal prosecutors said.

Adam Dawit Seyum, 21, of Arlington, Virginia, is accused of trying to pass a fake prescription at the pharmacy in the 4900 block of Jonestown Road, according to a release from the Lower Paxton Bureau of Police.
