This year, the nonprofit Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced it will be delivering 40 mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families, including the Browns, following his death battling a blaze in February.
On Friday, Feb. 16, crews were called to investigate a home explosion on Silver Ridge Drive in Sterling that left 11 first responders with significant injuries and caused $2.5 million in damage.
The origin and cause of the explosion was determined to be the result of a leak involving a 500-gallon underground propane tank that was uncontained and migrated into and around the structure before being ignited by an unknown source.
Now, Tunnel to Towers is honoring Brown's memory, while giving his family an assist as the organization "remains committed to supporting the memory of those who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty."
"This Veterans Day, Tunnel to Towers is honoring the memory of those who never got the chance to become veterans, who lost their lives protecting us," CEO and Chairman Frank Siller stated.
"As these families grieve the tremendous loss of a husband and father, I know being able to stay in the homes they shared can bring some peace of mind, and stability to their lives."
Brown, who served as a Marine before becoming a firefighter, is survived by his wife, and three children between the ages of 6 and 11.
