Driver Rescued By Bystanders After Crashing Into Potomac River In Virginia
A group of Good Samaritans came to the aid of a driver who found themself in a perilous position after crashing into the Potomac River. On Wednesday night, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the area of Waynewood Boulevard and George Washington Memorial Parkway, where there was a report of a vehicle that crashed and splash landed in the water. A Maryland State Police helicopter proved critical in rescuing a group of kayakers who became stranded in rough waters in the Potomac River on Sunday afternoon. At around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 6, Maryland State Police Aviation Command based out of Frederick came to the aid of four kayakers with an assist on the ground from Montgomery County swift water rescue personnel, officials say. First responders in Maryland came to the rescue of a group of swimmers who found themselves in a perilous position on Sunday afternoon, officials say. Ten people were removed from the Potomac River by crews in Montgomery County and Fairfax County after they were stranded on an island and their kayak went rogue and floated downstream. A person was found dead in the Potomac River on Monday morning, according to a DC Fire and EMS spokesperson. Shortly after 8:30 a.m. on July 1, first responders were called to make a water rescue on the river at the Arlington Memorial Bridge.
