A Spotsylvania woman was arrested after smashing into another driver in Fredericksburg while allegedly driving under the influence, police say. Over the weekend, an officer on patrol in downtown Fredericksburg spotted a red Toyota RAV 4 that blew through the stop sign at the intersection of Fauquier Street and Caroline Street and crashing into a Hyundai Elantra. Leesburg Pike Reopens Following Fatal Crash In Fairfax County Intersection
A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a driver near a busy intersection in Fairfax County on Saturday morning, police say. Officers were called before 5 a.m. on July 20 to the area of Leesburg Pike and Downey Drive in Great Falls, where a woman was hit by a car, which remained at the scene. The woman was evaluated and treated at the scene before first responders pronounced her dead. Following the crash, Leesburg Pike was shut down for hours in the area while detectives investigated. Arlington County Animal Control was called to I-395 to remove a dead bear from the roadway over the weekend, authorities said. The bear was spotted near Exit 8C around 2:10 p.m. Saturday, June 15, Virginia State Police spokesman Matthew Demlein said. 27-Year-Old Man Killed In Alcohol-Fueled Rockingham County Crash: State Police
A 27-year-old man died in a Rockingham County crash that police say may have involved alcohol. Justin L. McGuire, of New Market, was heading north on Route 11/North Valley Pike when he crossed the centerline in a Toyota Tacoma, ran off the roadway and struck a tree around 2:10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, Virginia State Police said. McGuire, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol is considered a factor in the crash, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

Homer Maxey had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and admitted to drinking 12-ounce beers just before the collision with a Fauquier County Ambulance on Warrenton and Poplar roads just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said.
