Arrest Made In 2017 Disappearance, Murder Of Virginia Mother, Infant: 'Long Time Coming'
After nearly eight years of unanswered questions, authorities in Virginia have made an arrest in the 2017 cold case murder of a young mother and her infant daughter, officials announced.
Carlos A. Johnson Jr., 46, of Newport News, was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, in connection with the deaths of 34-year-old Keir Johnson and her 8-month-old daughter, Chloe Johnson, according to Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares.
The mother and child were last seen on April 30, 2017.

A would-be burglar with big plans and bad execution crashed a stolen car into the front doors of a Loudoun County gun store, only to walk away empty-handed, according to police.
Leesburg officers responded to Loudoun Guns, in the 300 block of Industrial Court SE, around 3 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, after reports of a burglary attempt, authorities said.
When they arrived, they found a vehicle had been smashed into the front doors in an attempt to break in, but the suspect (or suspects) never made it inside, and nothing was stolen.

A disturbing act of vandalism has prompted an investigation at Patriot High School in Nokesville after inappropriate images, including a swastika, were found inside a classroom.
The incident was reported to the School Resource Officer on Monday, Dec. 11, according to the Prince William County Police Department, and the officer discovered the symbols drawn on a partition inside the classroom, police said.

Authorities are investigating a disturbing case of vandalism at a Prince William County school after racial slurs were found etched into a classroom table, officials said.
On Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 8 a.m., the School Resource Officer at Brentsville High School, located in the 12000 block of Aden Road, was alerted to the vandalism, according to police.

Speed is believed to have been a factor in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Virginia that claimed the lives of two people in Fairfax County, police say.
Investigators have identified the driver and passenger who were killed early on Sunday, Nov. 10 in the area of North Shore Drive and Charter Oak Tree in Reston when their Ford Explorer went off the roadway and struck a tree.
