With millions of travelers hitting the road before Thanksgiving, some will have to wait to reach their destination after a multi-vehicle crash temporarily blocked several lanes on I-270. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded at around noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27 to a stretch of the northbound lanes involving multiple vehicles and a tractor-trailer. A Maryland man has admitted to his role in the fatal shooting of a popular 34-year-old man in Northeast DC over Thanksgiving weekend last year, authorities announced. Andre Hicks, 40, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to second-degree murder while armed in connection to the death of Southeast DC resident Daniel Adams in November 2023. The second Midwesterner of the week was nabbed with a loaded gun at a Newark Airport security checkpoint, authorities reported. The 9mm handgun seized from an Illinois traveler's carry-on bag on Thursday was loaded with 12 bullets, including one in the chamber, the TSA's Lisa Farbstein said on Friday, Nov. 18.
