Researchers are warning about a "global plastics crisis" that's costing about $1.5 trillion a year in deaths and medical issues. The estimate comes from a new study published in The Lancet medical journal on Sunday, Aug. 3. Plastic production is projected to triple by 2060, and less than 10% is ever recycled. A man threatened to kill everyone inside a Virginia business — all over a honey packet. Shell To Close 1,000 Gas Stations: Here's Why, Company Says
One of the nation's major oil companies says it will close 1,000 gas stations. Shell made the announcement in its 2024 Energy Transition Strategy report, saying the measure is “in response to customer needs” and aimed at reallocating those resources towards EV charging stations. A New Jersey gas station attendant who died months after being brutally beaten while at work will be buried in Fairfax County, VA. Fardin Ghadami Darounkolaee was attacked in August 2022 by 26-year-old Nixon Marquez at the Shell station on Marin Boulevard and 14th Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez previously said.
