One Injured By Cellphone Explosion At Northwest DC High School
One person suffered minor injuries when a cellphone exploded inside a Northwest DC high school. DC Fire and EMS personnel were called to Roosevelt High School on 13th on Thursday morning to investigate an incident involving a person who was hurt from a lithium-ion battery that exploded. It comes in the wake of a scooter charger fire that left one hospitalized and nearly two dozen residents displaced. Fourteen years after 19-year-old Emmanuel Durant Jr. was murdered, police in Washington DC say they have arrested his killer. The Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of Randolph Thomas Jr., 40, in connection with the 2009 killing of Durant. Another young person in DC has become the victim of gun violence. A teenage boy was shot and killed in the parking lot of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Northwest DC by unknown assailants who fled the scene, according to Metropolitan Assistant Police Chief Morgan Kane. : Fake Active Shooter Report Targets DC High School, Police Say
D.C. police investigated a phony active shooter call at a local high school on Tuesday, Sept. 20, officials said.Sometime before 11:30 a.m., an individual falsely reported an active shooter incident at Roosevelt High School, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Though police were able to quickly determine the report was fake, officers conducted a walk-through of the school to make sure students and faculty remained safe, authorities said.
