A community is rallying around the family of a Maryland pastor who was gunned down by a longtime family friend earlier this month. Herbert Keith Mason Jr. is facing murder and other charges in connection with the deadly shooting of 59-year-old Lanham resident Benjamin Francis in Bowie, according to the Prince George's County Police Department. A Bowie man is accused of murdering 19-year-old Dacara Thompson, whose body was found dumped off Route 50 after she was reported missing, police announced. A 55-year-old woman riding her bike was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash Thursday night in Maryland, officials said. Tara Carter, of Lanham, was hit just before 8 p.m. on July 17 in the 8400 block of Annapolis Road in the city of New Carrollton, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department. A popular restaurant chain specializing in noodle-based dishes could close more than 20 locations. Noodles & Company plans to shut down as many as 21 restaurants in 2025, the fast-casual chain said in its first-quarter financial report on Wednesday, May 7.
