Injured Blue Heron Stuck In Waterway Saved By DC Officials D.C. Fire and EMS sent a fireboat crew to rescue a blue heron in need, officials said. Multiple animal control officers got into the water near Chain Bridge on August 4, in order to put the heron in a net and bring the bird to safety, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.
