An intense house fire sent two dogs to a local veterinarian and a firefighter was injured battling a blaze in Southeast DC on Tuesday afternoon. Tree-Climbing Bear Captured After Putting On Show In Northeast DC
Some residents in Northeast DC had a surprise visitor on Friday morning when a playful bear took in the sights before ultimately being tranquilized by first responders. On Friday, June 9, the DC Police Department issued an alert regarding a large black bear that was hanging out in a tree in the 1300 block of Franklin Street NE, leading to road closures in the area as Animal Care and Control personnel responded. Dog Fighting Operation Unearthed In DC After Officials Seize Illegal Alligator
A Washington, DC man will spend time behind bars after being convicted of animal cruelty for abusing dogs as part of a potential dog fighting operation and possession of an alligator, according to federal officials. Jaquan Jackson, 35, was found guilty of charges stemming from animal abuse in which he failed to provide proper veterinary care for at least two dogs, authorities announced. Specifically, Jackson was found guilty of two counts of animal cruelty following a three-day trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
