US Attorney Matthew Graves To Step Down Days Before Trump Inauguration In DC
Matthew Graves is stepping down as US Attorney for DC, his office confirmed, announcing that his resignation will be official as of Thursday, Jan. 16, four days before the presidential inauguration.
Graves has been in the role of DC's top prosecutor for more than three years following his confirmation by the Senate on Oct. 28, 2021, days before he was sworn in on Nov. 5, 2021.

The District man who knocked the teeth out of a 12-year-old child's mouth during a violent fracas in a Northwest DC home has been convicted, federal authorities announced.
Anthony Johnson, 42, was found guilty this week for his role in the assault of a child whose mother he was familiar with, according to the DOJ.

An elderly Florida man is facing charges for threatening to kill a US Congressman and his children in a series of messages left for him late last month, federal authorities announced.
Michael Shapiro, 72, of Greenacres, Florida, was arrested this week and charged with threatening a public official through at least five voicemails going after he and his family.
The threats were reportedly targeting Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell.
